Scott Sutcliffe is a director at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Scott started his professional career as an early and long-term intern at Manomet Bird Observatory. He received a BS from Cornell in 1975 and an MS from the University of New Hampshire in 1980, both in wildlife ecology. While a grad student at UNH, Scott directed the N.H. Loon Preservation Committee and was co-founder and director of the North American Loon Fund. He then worked as a director of the Long Island Chapter of The Nature Conservancy and in 1985 joined the Cornell Lab. His Cornell Lab responsibilities have included membership development, board development, administration, fund raising, and more; all driven by his passion for birds. He’s currently involved in high-level fund raising, board development, estate planning, and donor stewardship. Scott is a former AFO Council member, AFO treasurer, and AFO president. In addition to bird-related activities, Scott serves on local boards and assists local non-profit organizations in fund raising and programmatic endeavors. Scott lives on and manages an old farm/wildlife sanctuary in Trumansburg, NY.
