SMALL GRANTS FOR LATIN AMERICAN AND CARIBBEAN BANDING CERTIFICATION SESSIONS
The North American Banding Council (NABC) and Association of Field Ornithologists (AFO) are soliciting applications for small grants that support the development and certification of Latin American and Caribbean bird banders. Recognizing the integral role bird banding plays in ornithology and avian conservation, these funds are intended to (1) increase the pool of Latin American and Caribbean biologists certified by NABC and (2) promote NABC standards in bird safety and data quality through professional certification.
Funds will be made available in two forms:

    1. Groups organizing NABC-based certification sessions and/or NABC-based training sessions that culminate in a certification opportunity.
    2. Individuals attending a bird banding training program based on NABC standards and culminating in a certification opportunity.

    APPLICATION DEADLINES
    Programs in 2016: August 15, 2016
    Programs in 2017: January 15, 2017

    APPLICATIONS
Applications and instructions for either (1) groups organizing NABC-based certification sessions or (2) individuals attending a training program can be downloaded here: http://www.nabanding.net/pequenas-subvenciones-de-certification-certification-small-grants/. Applications and/or questions should be sent to Ian Ausprey (iausprey [at] ufl.edu) with “NABC Application” in the subject line by the deadline indicated above.
