Sponsored Latin American Memberships

The Association of Field Ornithologists will provide one-year membership awards to qualified Latin American Ornithologists. These awards are restricted to individuals based in Latin America and may include, professionals, non-professionals, and students.

This award provides the following benefits:

  • Online access to the quarterly Journal of Field Ornithology
  • AFO Afield, the association’s newsletter
  • an invitation to the AFO annual meeting
  • 10% discounts on mist nets, banding and field supplies

To be eligible for an AFO sponsored membership award, you must:

  1. Be a current resident of any Latin American country (including the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America)
  2. Be actively involved in field ornithology (professional, student or non-professional) in Latin America

To apply, please submit, by email no later than October 15th:

  1. A completed application form
  2. A resume or curriculum vitae

Resumes/CVs of all applicants should include your educational history, relevant employment history (if any), and citations for publications in the area of ornithology.

Resumes/CVs of student applicants should also indicate the degree for which a student is a candidate (e.g., Bachelor’s, Masters or Doctorate/Ph.D.), the educational institution at which they are currently enrolled, expected date of degree completion, title of thesis or dissertation research being conducted, and the name and email address of their academic supervisor.
